No two songwriters are exactly the same in approach or method. One of the things teaching songwriters has taught me is that, like any other area of life, everyone has to find their own way.

FCGs may have difficulty transitioning into a carer role identity, both initially and with subsequent changes in the caregiver context Transitions to, and within, the FCG role are entwined with existing roles and relationships, family values, and social and cultural norms, as well as the FCGs personal beliefs and self-expectations about their responsibility to provide care For example, FCGs often present with a self-expectation or altruistic tendency to focus their energy solely on the care recipient and in doing so neglect their own need to rest and engage in social and leisure activities 11 Comparative studies have found that FCGs stress levels are exacerbated as new care demands arise or existing care demands amplify with disease progression 11 — Further, frequent personality changes and unpredictable or uncharacteristic behaviors associated with dementia can be distressing for FCGs as they attempt to adapt or modify their strategies to cope with changing care demands 1 While supporting FCGs is an increasing focus of practice, there is a need for further research into potential practical interventions that are both acceptable and accessible.

Additionally, Elvish et al. Psychoeducational skill building includes coping and managing emotional difficulties arising as a primary consequence of caring for a PWD The viability of this method was reflected in the interventions' impact on FCGs' levels of depression, anxiety, wellbeing, quality of life, and attitudes toward caregiving However, many of these reported interventions required a heavy attendance commitment at least 6 weeks for 2-h at a time.
